An elderly male presents for a check up and is found to have a new, microcytic anemia.
*Take home point: Retic Count is a KEY test to see if someone is hemolyzing; if it’s up, they’re either hemolyzing or bleeding. Note that LDH/smear/bili only good for intravascular hemolysis, so can be negative in the more common extravascular hemolysis*
